Sesame seeds ladoo is a very delicious and healthy recipe. This is specially made in Maharashtra in the winter season during the Sankranti festival.  Recipe being simple one can prepare this ladoo within half-hour only. These ladoos we can prepare with peanut, sesame seeds and jaggery. If you want you can add dry coconut also in this laddoo.

Makar Sankranti- is a festival widely celebrated in Maharashtra  with distribution of til 'and 'gul' among the people of every age .Til means sesame seeds and gul is, jaggery' we people share til gul to everyone with these words' til gul ghya god god bola.' This means take tilgud and speak sweet . Sankranti is celebrated on 14 January every year. Makar Sankranti is based on the solar calendar. Makar Sankranti is celebrated to mark the movement of the sun in the makar sign.Sankranti literally means, 'movement,It is believed that Lord Surya pays visits to his son , Lord Shani who is lord of Makar sign on this day. Makar Sankranti is celebrated to acknowledge the fresh harvest of the season.

Til health benefits

Til is a very important source of heat and energy. In Ayurveda, there is a lot of importance of til (Sesame) is loaded with a lot of nutrients so we should include it in our diet perticularly in the winter season. Without til ladoo it is difficult to imagine winter in India. Sesame has numerous beauty and hair benefits. Sesame seeds strengthen the root of hairs as these seeds are rich in omega-3 fatty acids .It promotes hair growth and repairs hair damage. It helps in moisturizing the scalp and improve blood circulation. Sesame seeds are rich in antioxidants and reverse signs of aging and maintain skin smooth and shine. Sesame seeds are rich in fibers. It improves our digestive system. These fibers play an important role in reducing heart diseases. New research reveals that it helps in reducing the risk of type 2 diabetes, obesity, and prevents cancer. It contains lignan and phytosterol that have a cholesterol-lowering effect.

In this recipe we will roast the sesame seeds which reduce oxalate and phytates such sesame help in digestion and absorption of protein . Amino acids like methionine and cysteine  are present in an abundant amount in sesame seeds. Sesame seeds are rich in calcium, manganese, magnesium and zink also. These seeds are a good source of thiamine(B1), niacin(B3), vitamin( B6). It also helps in lowering the blood sugar levels.It also supports the immune system. Til also contain copper selenium and zink.So our ancestors must have done lot of studies about in which month what kind of diet people should take and how each and every ingredient should be consumed. This proves how great is our Indian culture.

    These til ladoo can be used as sweet snack to maintain heat at proper level in our body. Basically, these ladoos are prepared with the help of jaggery only. The sweetness of jaggery is much better for a healthy perspective compared to sugar. It contains more nutrients as compared to refined sugar. Whereas refined sugar contains empty calories without much vitamins and minerals. Til ladoo is not very complicated to prepare but some tips and recommendations for perfect ladoo.

First, we have to replace normal sugar with jaggery. We should roast til on low heat as well as groundnut also.

Jaggery helps us to regulate our hormones and it helps to improve haemoglobin level in our body. The  anemic patient   should consume these ladoo without hesitation. 

Ingredients

  1. Sesame seeds 1 cup
  2. peanut -1/2 cup
  3. jaggery 3/4 cup
  4. 1 tsp cardamom powder
    Instruction

  •  Firstly, in a pan dry roast 1 cup white sesame seeds .you can use 1/2 cup black sesame seeds 1/2 cup white sesame seeds.
  •  Roast separately peonutOn low flame .
  • Allow to cool both sesame seeds and ground nut.
  •  Add 3/4 cup jaggery grated preferably organic jaggery
  •  jaggery syrup  can also made  by adding 2tbsp water and boil for 5 min.
  • Now to check the consistency of syrup drop the jaggery syrup into bowl of water and try to make a ball if it hold shape then syrup is ready
  • Turn off the flame and add grounded sesame seeds and ground nut.
  • Add cardamom powder at this stage.
  • and combine well and making sure all ingredients combines well.
  • Now allow to cool for 5 min or till mixture thickens.
  • Grease hand with little ghee and prepare balls of size of your choice.
  • Finally,serve til ladoo or store in a airtight container and enjoy for a month.
