Alsi ladoo recipe-Alsi or flax seeds (javas) are a great food for weight loss and diabetes.Alsi ladoo is commonly made in India during the winter season.
Why should we eat flaxseeds?
It has a lot of nutritional value. They are packed with various nutrients, especially omega -3 fatty acids and soluble fibers, making them an excellent food for diabetic as well as a weight loss diet. Flaxseeds contain soluble mucilaginous(gum-like) fibers which reduce bad cholesterol (LDL) in the blood and regulate blood sugar level. These seeds are a good source of energy to keep you active full day. In this recipe, we are combining flaxseeds with other dry fruits and made into yummy desserts that you can gorge on, guilt-free.In this ladoo we are not going to add jaggery or sugar, the sweetness is added by dates. Dates are an excellent natural sweetener They are a source of fructose, which is a natural type of sugar found in fruits. They make a great healthy substitute for white sugar. They are sticky in nature which makes them useful as a binder.
Dates-
Dates having an excellent nutritional profile. They are rich in carb .fibers, potassium, iron, copper, manganese, and vitamin B6. Dates are also high in antioxidants. It contributes to a lot of health benefits. As they are rich in fibers it improves our digestive system and prevents constipation. Dates may be beneficial for blood sugar control. Fibers slow digestion and may help to prevent blood sugar levels from spiking too high after eating. So dates have a low glycemic index (gi).
Rich in antioxidants-Dates provides antioxidants that have a number of health benefits. Antioxidants protect cells from free radicals, which are unstable molecules that may cause a harmful reaction in your body and leads to disease.
It contains 3 most potent antioxidants
Flavanoids, Carotenoids, phenolic acid. Flavanoids are a powerful antioxidant that may help reduce inflammation. They also have the potential to reduce the risk of diabetes. and a certain type of cancer.
Carotenoids promote heart health. Phenolic acid is known as an anti-inflammatory and lowers the risk of cancer.
Dry coconut-Dry coconut is higher in saturated fat. Dry coconut is beneficial for healthy skin and bone and helps to maintain good blood sugar levels. The next ingredient is edible glue (dink).
Edible gond(dink)-
Gond is widely used in Ayurvedic preparations and is great for boosting immunity, stamina, and health.It is used to treat weakness and male fertility issues. It strengthens and nourishes bone tissues as it is rich in calcium, magnesium. They help in lubricating joints. It is very good for pregnant women.
Ingredients
- 1 cup flaxseeds
- 1 cup dry coconut
- 1/2 cup atta(wheat)
- ghee-4tbsp
- 1 cup dates(khajoor)
- 3 tsp edible glue(gond)
- cardamom powder
Method
- Heat a pan on medium heat and add flaxseeds to it.
- Roast the flaxseeds for 4-5 minutes
- when flaxseeds get a little glaze of oil it means they are well roasted.
- Remove seeds to a plate and allow to cool.
- Add grated coconut in the same pan and roast it a little.
- Add ghee in a same pan
- Add dink(edible glue) and fry it until it puffs up.
- Roasted coconut, fried dink, and roasted flaxseeds transfer into a blender jar.
- Add wheat flour in the same ghee and roast it really well and transfer in a blender.
- Add ghee in pan and roast dates well until become smooth.
- Blend all ingredients in the blender, Add roasted dates and mix everything well together. Add cardamom powder also.
- Roll the mixture into ladoos and garnish with a few pistachios.
- Our flaxseeds (javas) ladoos are ready.
